Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Really scary, sort of like a packman, the rivets are eyes, the track ends are mouths.

I don't like the looks of those either. On a side note...why does everyone hate Cannondale? Besides it not being steel Mine has been a great bike. Reliable, no problems. It was definitely a gateway seeing as how I'm a bike junkie now.

The mother of all shortcuts. It's not the nuts that I'm worried about backing off....more like the big pothole that shears those little bolts off. Is it that much trouble to have a welder run a seam?

it is with aluminium.

you need to put it in a kiln to cure the weld afterwards.

A friend of mine was re-painting a friend of his bike, and had to strip it. When he took off the paint, it turned out there was an 1/8" hole in the top tube, filled with putty and painted over. When he told me that, I decided I would never ride a Cannondale. Not like I was looking for one, but if I saw one, I wouldn't buy it.

Those 'track' ends REALLY worry me - no chance I'd ride that bike more than around the block...
