Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Is it customary to use oversized bikes? Looking at pics of SS bikes on the web, it looks like either everybody is over 6' tall or use bikes that are too big for them.

Really? This means my bike is quite desirable since it's too big to almost everyone.

It was a serious question. What I meant was, does the standover height match inseam? E.g. I am 5' 9" and would ride a 30" standover bike which would be 762mm and looking at the Raleigh Prestige 2008 specs would translate into a 53cm small size for me. So, 5' 10" and 54cm sounds right. I asked as most pics are of very tall bikes, with long seat stays.
