Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Messenger beats bike thief

I read the blog post and they were talking about a beating, but I think the guy got off pretty light. Probably won't stop him from doing it again though.

Did that guy really have a MASH tattoo on the back of his left arm? What a tool.

Other than that, win.

Glad they didn't turn this into another U-Lock beatdown. But glad they stood up to this scumbag and tried to teach him a lesson.

Don't steal bikes bro.

I kind of want to put "don't steal bikes bro" on my bag now. Someone should go to stickernation and have a bunch of stickers printed that say that, actually.

WTF happened to stickernation.com? ****'s changed

Not that I like to condone violence, but it still makes me to see a thief getting what they had coming anyways.

how do you people feel about vigilante-justice like this? on one hand the guy is getting a well-deserved beat-down lesson and hopefully wont steal again, on the other its kind of "violent" in public.

im all for beating down thieves, but in the eyes of the police, what would happen if they just saw some people ganging up on the guy w/o knowing the scenario?

is there any way to publicly humiliate thieves AND leave them on display as an example to other would-be thieves?

U-lock 'em around the neck to a parking meter and use a Mag44 marker to write "BIKE THIEF" across their chest.

I'm glad they did it, **** that guy! If they would have called the cops nothing would have happened, these days the ****ing thieves have more rights than the the person being robbed or otherwise molested! **** 'em! I'm glad they gave him a beat down.

I will preface this by saying that I don't condone violence as a means to an end but I thought this was very appropriate. This was not a "beat down", this was humiliation and deserved.

I approve of this 100%! The cops don't do anything, going to jail doesn't rehabilitate criminals but rather gives them new contacts for when they get out and their crimes just escalate in intensity. I wish they had at least broken every bone in his hands to teach him a lesson!

I'd take one of those stickers as well. Let me know if anyone does : ).

They took it easy on him. If it was my bike I think i'd be a little more violent then they are. Or not who knows.
