No offense but some fixed gear riders are jerks

I just try to say what's up or complement their bike and they just look at me like I'm a piece of crap or just don't even say anything back. It seems like some riders think they are better than other people or they just talk to a certain group of people (jerks like them?).

Maybe they weren't expecting you to greet them so they were flabbergasted.

That's not even close to the same thing.

What's wrong with some human decency? It doesn't mean he's trying to hit on them.

I have conversations with other bike guys I see out there almost daily (I ride daily), and its never awkward. However, growing up in Ann Arbor, MI, there are DEFINITELY a group of bike jerks who think they are better than any body else, and their bike is the most uber-leetest bike in the world.

it's not exclusive to fixed gear riders

matter of fact, the only cyclist likely to thank you for the compliment on his bike is a recumbent rider

"No offense but some fixed gear riders are jerks"

That can and does apply to any group of people.

Riding home last night from a twelve-hour work day, I encountered another fixed-gear guy approaching on the opposite side of the road about a half-mile from my house. He yelled "Hey man, nice Kilo!" as we passed. By the time I yelled "Thanks!" I had forgetten how exhausted I was and rode the rest of the way home with a smile on my face.

Nah, I ride all type of bikes and when I get a compliment I always reply with a "Thank you!" Hell, someones taking the time to look at, appreciate, and then compliment the bike your riding and your going to an ass and not even acknowledge them?! Not I.

grow a better moustache, and/or wear tighter jeans, and/or get more nitto.

or, ride ride ride, get strong and kick their ass.

either way, cred. you decide which is more credible.

Well, lets be real, most people are ass-holes. I feel like road-bikers look at me riding my fixed gear like I'm some sort of rodant. I still say what's up.

There are a lot of cool FG peeps in San Jose, but there also a lot of jerks here to. Where did this happen? Was it any of the SJFixed people?

i don't talk to other cyclists on the road anymore. Only time I talk bikes to ppl IRL is if they are a friend or something. The only time I say something to other cyclists is if I see one in need of help. I do give nods and waves, though.

ironically just today i was riding into the parking lot of my apartment complex and saw a neighbor riding out. i always give him the ol' "hey, whats up man?" he always gives me the mopey silent stare. its a ****ing jerky thing to do. don't get me wrong, i'm not expecting some parade and fanfare-- i just think its ****ty to completely blow off somebody you see on a regular basis. i mean a "hey" would do.

Don't sweat it man, just say hi and take his silence for what it is, if some day he ask you to stop with your greetings, just say, cool, no problem, have a good one, and it's over. you loose nothing.

He is in his own world, and you startled him out of it. He probably thinks you're Gay. Most men don't talk to each other unless they are good friends. In the Men's room you don't talk, that is just how it is...Women are usually the ones who engage in small talk, if I was you, I would just blow it off and ignore the guy, he's really not your friend..
