My Kilo Stripper arrived!

2 hours ago. I'm a total newbie, just having converted my old schwinn, and then upgrading to this, my first entry level track bike. Came around 5pm, greased and tightened everything, and rode it a couple of miles. The only basis for comparison is my 1970's Schwinn Continental which weighs 30lbs, so I felt like I was flying.

Im Jealous, my white Stripper wont be here until Tuesday. Enjoy your new ride. What size is that?
|
That's a 55cm, and I'm exactly 6'. Maybe a bit on the small side for me...standover is almost 2".
|
ps. the pictures are blurry because the bike is so fast.
|
I am 6' but with a 31" inseam so I ordered the 53
|
mine came too... sweet. but, the fork got banged, one of the dropouts is bent upward. meh.

Hmmm so tempted to get one. You need to slow your bike down so i can see the pictures better... or rather... get a better camera!

lucky you, think mine is coming tomorrow. Btw did you have to tighten the cog(i don't have the chain tool or a cog gear tool) and what kind of grease did you use?

Could you possibly post a good side-on picture of the bike with the stem flipped over? That'd be way off the chain

Yeah, just remove the stem and flip it over so that it angles down instead of up. I'd like to see what it looks like if you don't mind the hassle =P

Ahh, I see. You had the stem flipped from the get-go, assuming the bikesdirect pictures as our point of reference
|
the decal is on the saddle??? that's actually kind of cool.

I just received my 53 cm WhiteSplash. I'll take photos as soon as its out of the box and assembled. For those wondering, the color could almost be described as pearl. It looks a little like the pearl paint on high-end cars. It arrived well-packed and completely damage free.
|
Nice, I got the white also. I was hoping its pearly.... WHERES THOSE PICS???
|
+1 on the Pics!

As promised. Here are photos.
Some thougthts: The white looks like a bright white until it is in direct light. Then it has a metallic pearly finish. Also, the gold in the pedals is a really dark gold and kind of unnecessary. Its a totally different color than the chain. As for size, I am 5'10" with a 32" cycling inseam and the 53 cm is a little bit big but not so big that it is uncomfortable. I probably could have gone with the 50cm but really its a toss up. The bike looks and feels extremely well made. The ride is quick and a little twitchy but I am used to road geometry. Its a blast to ride. I added a freewheel and will add the rear brake soon. I plan to swap out the drops for risers or bullhorns since I will never use the drops. I'm going to give the saddle a chance but it will probably go as well. |
I recieved my white Stripper yesterday and I am very impressed. No issues right out of the box( I was kind of worried about the forks being bent). The little stickers that are on it are removable so I have no stickers on the frame. The bars kind of sucked so I flop and choped them to hold me off until I get my risers. The wheels were true and the cog lockring was tight. I really don't like the pedals so I will change those out for clipless in the near future. All in all I am satisfied with the stripper
