Cog problems...
So I just replaced my cog wheel.. It rides perfect when I'm riding easy...but when I pedal really hard something seems to "slip" forwards. This also happens when I skid at higher speeds sometimes too... This is my first cog wheel replacement so I'm a little skeptical. Is this just the cog tightening down? Does it have anything too do with the lock ring not being tight enough? Help!?!

Pedal really hard for a mile or so and don't skid or offer any backwards resistance. Tighten lockring.
After this, I doubt you will have any trouble like this again.

If you already feel it slipping when you ride, don't tighten it by riding more. It would really suck to have your hub strip out while doing this. Make sure you haven't lost any threads, then tighten everything by with tools by hand first. Then go mashing for a little bit.

You could check the axle bolt while at it. On some rare occasions, your cone-nuts (nuts that keep the bearings in the hub) may come loose. This feels like cog slipping on the hub.
I had this problem with a used set of wheels. Apparently the previous owner was in hurry after maintenance. I was scared $#&%-less for few days. Lucky for me, I had cone-spanners for other reasons. You can probably borrow a set from LBS.
