Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Who sells polished stems?

Well for those who have a Kilo TT. You obviously know how long the factory stem is. I've been wanting to swap out the factory stem for a short polished stem. But who makes polished stems nowadays. It's mostly black stems that are out there.

My question is do any of you guys know a place/website where i can find a 60-80mm 1" threadless stem that's polished/chrome in color? The only stem i can think of is the Nitto UI-5GX. But that's bank. I'm just looking for any low priced(cheapo) stem that'll do the job. Get back at me if any of you can help me. I've checked 4 LBS around me and majority of them carry black stems.

Easy-off oven cleaner will make anything you want silver, just add your own polish.

Center to center, just like the stock 110mm Kilo stem. I've never ordered from VO but one of my co-workers has that stem. It's very similar to your stock stem, just shorter and not as 'cheap' looking.

No problem. Not sure if you clicked the link to my velospace, but I've still got the stock stem as well (and hate it). I think I'll be going for an 80mm soon myself.

I've ordered from Velo-Orange. They've always been good. Note that they also have a nice polished seat post too, which has extra setback so that Brooks users can get their saddles back. My next bike is getting both!

Nice! We have the same bike. I also have a 53cm Glitter Gold Kilo. Mine is mainly stock the only thing i've upgraded was the cog&lockring and i just got a front&back lights. I've also cut the steerer tube a bit and took off 3 of the small spacers. I just received my bike on the 16th of this month.

+1 on the Velo Orange. Cheap and a nice finish. My girlfriend bought one here in town at no brakes and I'm pretty impressed with it. Probably pick one up myself.

Velo-Orange has GREAT stuff. I have their stem and post on my Madison. Also a few others items from them like bar tape. Good prices and product and fast and reasonable shipping.

Their stem is on my Kilo as well.

I use this on one my set-ups:
http://www.origin-8.com/product_deta...+Pro&cl1=STEMS
It reminds of a 3T Mutant, which i wish I could find in smaller sizes. Any bike shop could order this for you if they don't already stock it.

+1 for Velo Orange, I have the stem and lot's gear from them and can highly recommend buying from them. Velo-O has nice gear especially for the price.

I might just get the 6 degree stem instead of the 17 if I get too impatient.
