Ive never started from the ground up on a bike so I wanted all the opinions I could get, so please leave anything that might help me on my way.


Think im going with the Volume Cutter frame and Fu Manchu fork, since its going to get a beating-I need a strong frame. Im also getting the Velocity B-43 wheel-set, Seems to be the strongest right now, as Ive seen people jumping 8 stairs with them.... O=


I'm still doing research on cranks, pedels, handlebars ect... But what do you guys recommend??

You should check out tricktrack.org. Also maybe look into that new leader trick frame. I really have nothing to add because I really know nothing about this.

Anyone tried the velocity chuckkers or w/e there called?

Just get a b43 rear and a 650 or 26' up front and the cutter with fumachu or even the leader is cool.

Then you can get some bmx cranks with a euro bb or track cranks will work w/e floats your boat.

Bmx pedals with some holdfast straps.

^^ it is..just with 700c wheels plus riding fixed is a more fun a bunch of guys I know that ride the bikes above to ride bmx as well

Tricktrack.org they have all of the info you need. Personally I'd go with the Bruiser and some 29r rims or chuckers laced to profile fixed hubs....but that's just me (if I had the cash)

True TypicalCat, it's a shame that there's so little acceptance for tricking. I can say that I won't be dropping ten steps on my Kilo, but why not learn some sh**. I mean come on, you guys really can't tell me that using a bike for something it wasn't designed for is wrong. Track bikes on the street, hell I even ride my Mountain bike on the street...aaaaah somebody call the law!!!!!

To the OP, go to tricktrack.org most of the guys/gals on there are young but could care less what you're riding and they're really usually supportive from what I've read.

If that's true, then you will find fixie tricks very lame and the bikes will be stupidly expensive compared to BMX.

Basic sh*t on a BMX is OMG AMAZIIIIING!!!!! on a fixie because doing them on fixed gear is hard for no reason.

If you want a new challenge, try BMX racing, road cycling or actual track racing. That's what ex-bmxers do. That's what I did. I'm an ex-BMXer.

The utra-deep section rims may look cooler but any decent 29er MTB rim on a well built wheel should stand up to the abuse of tricks. A pair of 36 spoke 3x laced CR-18 rims will be a lot less expensive and should hold up to whatever shenanigans you ride with them. I've previously described this rim as the 'cockroach of bicycle components' it doesn't look pretty but it will be the only part of your bike to survive nuclear winter.

Good luck whatever you decide, and post some videos you your tricks and/or falls when you get it built up.

+1 to the Sun CR-18. I don't trick, but I beat the ever-loving **** out of those and other Sun rims and they've all proven tougher than anything else I've ridden.
