Is lithium grease OK for cog/lockring
Couldn't find my wheel bearing grease but had some lithium grease laying around so I used that for my cog and lockring. If you are unfamiliar, its thicker and stickier than regular grease. Used on suspension and bushings for cars usually.
Is this OK for my cog/lockring or for any reason should I clean it off? |
Should be fine.
Been riding on Slick 50 "all-purpose" grease, myself. It works. :thumb: |
great. hopefully this doesn't bite me in the ass down the road.

slick 50 is good stuff, I've never used it anywhere on a bike though. I just found lithium grease in a spray can for CRAZY cheep (scratch and dent sale) so I was wondering if I could use it for bike applications.
|
meh, if its good enough for automotive, it is probably good enough for a bike. A thicker grease will attract more dust and grime iirc (don't quote me on that).
|
lithium grease in a can and the thick stuff I have are totally different. Mine will definitely attract grime, but I wiped all residue off hte outside of the cog and lockring.
