bb drop measurement confusion

bb drop measurement confusion
so, i'm trying to figure out how newer road-fix specific frames (soma, surly, bianchi) compare with my road conversion fix as far as bb height and therefore pedal strike likelihood.
my understanding of the measurement itself is that it is the vertical distance between the center of the axles and the center of the BB. the steamroller lists the BB drop as 70mm, the soma (trackier) at 58mm, and the bianchi site doesn't seem to list it. i did some fairly primitive measurements on my schwinn (shutup, its got pretty lugs) road conversion, and as near as i can tell the BB drop is about 2 and 1/2 inches, or roughly 63.5mm...
so, did i measure properly? does this mean that i lucked out on this frame as far as BB height goes?
so far i've been taking it easy on sharp corners because i keep hearing that road conversions have high chances for pedal strikes. i'd like to stop all this taking it easy nonsense.
also, as a sidenote, does anyone know any sites that list measurements for older frames?

if anyone feels like doing a much quicker comparison with their bike, my pedals are about 4 1/4 inches off the ground when standing vertical at 12/6oclock
any help would be much appreciated.

i wouldn't say you we're lucky...road bikes (especially touring bikes) have a different geometry. they are built to, generally, go straight.
now lets think about the BB measurement for a sec...always take the entire bikes geometry into consideration, every bike is different (i suppose it's one of the ways to patent it?). as the BB dimension gets longer, does the wheelbase dimension decrease or increase? (remember, the tighter the geometry you have the stiffer your ride will be)
have you tried track pedals or going clipless? find some pedals that have a shorter width...
let me know how it turns out.

it'd mean a lot to me if a few people (especially those on rush, steamroller, pista,etc) would measure the space between their pedal and the ground so that i could get a somwhat firmer idea of where my frame sits in the spectrum.
