Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

^ when did this become a "randomly chime in with alternatives to knogs" thread?

oh right, right around the first reply.

everyone... please, address the question or use rhetoric to at least announce that you are ignoring the topic and existing discussion.

I have the Skink for a back light, and hell, if people don't see that at night they shouldn't even be in traffic in the first place!

The boomer BOOMS.

it's actually got two auxillary, low wattage LEDs in the optic "race" outer circle. these help side lighting and catch a little more illumination in the strobe modes for a pulse effect.

the 1w main burner is BRIGHT. this thing is easily as bright as a superflash on full battery charge.

it's very well constructed and the flash modes are sweeeet. the attachment mechanism is far more secure than the frogs and easy to use while still being supremely secure.

the marketing for this is very fairytale-creative-writing-silly-hipster chic, so it's hard to find out much about this in terms of techincal or mechanical specifications... but i assure you this little buddy has the goods to back up its smugness.

it takes two AAAs. it's the PERFECT size for a 27.2 seatpost. its optic projects the beam in a rearward circle that will cover blind drivers in a wash of red light no matter what your seattube angle. it has great 180 degree visibility and a long throw in about 15 degree beam pattern aft. the plastic inner case is removable entirely from the silicon housing. it's small but not such that it would be easy to lose.

best taillight i've ever owned.

(here it is on constant mode against a background of full wash 4pm summer sun from just OUTSIDE of the main beam throw)

I use a planet bike blinky on the back and I use a 900 lumen Magicshine headlight.

I ride to work every day at 3:30-4am, bright enough to see well ahead of me.

I used to have a crappy just-to-be-seen light and almost got run over a few times.
