Visiting CA - San Francisco & LA

Hey I am planning on taking my bike away from all this winter here in Pittsburgh and getting to ride in the sunshine a little early.

My trip's sposed to be March 2-8. I'll be in SF first then LA for the weekend.
Anything going on those times/places?
anyone want to ride?
shows?
I haven't been to CA since I lived there in 03-04. what's new?

It's still the best state for the time being. Better have fun before it completely goes to hell.

You can find local rides on LAFixed.com or SFFixed.

What's new? The 405 flows super smoothly now, especially during rush hour. --- --- --- --- --- OK, not really.

Oh man, if you want a great sandwich you should check out Ike's in Mission/Castro. Also you should visit Montano Velo in Oakland. Citizen Chain seemed pretty rad for some funky used parts but BoxDog was a pretty big letdown.

boxdogs had more used parts for sale in the past. i guess hype caught on and people went crazy over there.

pedal revolution in mission is pretty cool, nice/friendly people too.

well for one, there is a hell of a lot of construction going on in the East Bay since they are widening the highways going into the central valley and towards LA.

Haha.

The state is going to the dumps since we keep on adding projects to the to-do list when we are still about $50B in DEBT.

It doesnt make sense to me. But other than that, CA is still a wonderful state.

Well, it goes back to property taxes, as far as I can tell. I guess it's a matter for the Bike Forums Politics Forum though.

Avoid west and east Oakland at all costs you might get your bike and life stolen.

Also avoid Richmond the CITY, not the borough of SF, avoid Vallejo (certain parts). If you go to vallejo, check out the scraper bike movement.
