Omnium is the best, and when you say it it sounds like you are eating too.

Phil Wood Titanium BB - 135g

Campagnolo Record Pista Crankset - 592g

Sram Omnium Crankset - 825g

EDIT, BB is included in Sram weight calculation

So you could save 98g's or .216 lbs by going with the campy potentially. Not sure if you can feel that but bragging rights on a light bike are worth something to some folks.

It appears you are correct, so only about 100g savings then. Unless the record Crankset includes BB in which case the BB weighs in at 220g. That would make the crank 372g +135g for the phil wood BB = 507g. That would give us a 307g savings or .676 lbs. Anybody know for sure if the record crankset weight includes BB?

It does not. I agree with the sentiment that you won't feel the difference in stiffness. You'd make better gains by changing to a stiffer frame.

For the sake of completeness here are weights of the track cranks I've owned. Just the arms, steel chainring bolts + BB (no chainrings):

Omniums (172.5mm): 703g
Miche Primato Advanced (170mm): 795g
75s (170mm): 863g

What other posters have alluded to is that external BBs are disposable. Got some grit in the bearings making noise? Tough s***, pony up $30 for a new BB.

Or consider the $160 bucks for a Phil Wood GXP BB money-well spent and never worry about it again.

Right!? A good poop in the morning would more than compensate for the diff. in crank weight.

Or better yet, drop a dozen pounds of belly fat as I've managed to do this year. Man, all my bieks have gotten to be light as feathers !

If it's beauty contest, Campy's for the win.

Best splurge purchase for my bike I've ever made. So pretty and beautifully made. Makes the 75s look like they were made by cavemen with dull rocks.
