Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

the bike is as close to pristine as you could ever want. has a full shimano xt groupset (right down to the brakepads), and all other original components (except for the ti flite, i believe). the only thing i plan on doing is getting a wider bar- this thing is NARROW! the color is billed as raspeberry and it's amazing in person. since this is my "sunday driver" i opted for the 1.95 kwests, instead of knobbies, since i'll probably spend 90% of the time on pavement.

more here.
Wow! What a great color! That's really surprising... I had a '91 Stumpjumper Comp, the color was matte gray, I never saw any other Stumpie Comps that year in any other color. Crazy that they went from matte gray to that gorgeous raspberry! I wish I would have waited and bought a '92, I'd probably still own it!

'88 Schwinn Voyageur. Powder coated and converted to 700c. I've set this bike up a lot of different ways. It's heavy, but I like it. I use this for errands and short trips in town and the like. I recently got a Trek trailer to haul groceries and my daughter when she's old enough.

I'm almost that enthusiastic but the shifter/brake lever pods are killin' my vibe.

Yeah, they're pretty lame, but I want indexed shifting on that bike. I'm thinking about going with these levers and thumbies or XT or XTR trigger shifters. Also thinking of getting a different crankset and going to a 2x9 setup. I don't dig the BioPace rings.

I think the thumbies would be perfect. BTW, nice stem. Is it custom?

Thanks. It's a Nitto UI-100. It's Cro-Mo and matches the finish of the B2500 bar. I wish I could find a few more of them; I like a 0/90 degree stem.

Thanks. Yeah, it's awfully sparkly and "wet" looking for powder and it only cost me $100 including the fenders! My powdercoater had some of this left over and he did three bikes at once (two for a friend of mine). He called it "molten copper". It's three coats; black, copper and clear. It has not held up nearly as well as the solid colors I've had done, but I'm not worried about it. This bike is bound to get plenty of nicks and, again, the price was right.
