Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Absolutely love the marinoni. I assume 8 speed campy? Athena or chorus? That stuff has a look and feel to it that to me seems timeless. Kinda curious as to which gets ridden more, the cannondale road bike or the marinoni?

Thanks. The Marinoni will always be in my stable. It's an 89' SLX tube Special and was my first real road bike. The 8 speed chorus group was pieced together over the last 6 months or so. I ride all of them a fair amount but sadly the carbon road gets more milage because it's new and really light.

It seems like doing so would actually have pretty negative effects unless you were stopping for like an hour, and even then.

IMO it just seemed like a really pointless thing that probably isn't worth the reward, especially since you could have waited until you got back. However, I may be biased because I don't drink, therefore I could be wrong about the negative effects a beer would have on a long ride.
Old post, but I felt a wrong had to be righted.

i know the unwanted sizes of the alter are easy to find, but i hope you really need a stem that long.

lol ill just respond in one post...

yes the frame was 40 bucks! lol... i even got another old philips frame thrown in for free! but just because it was cheap dosn't necessarily make it a turd...and i guess if it is a turd, then its my turd and i love my sh1!t

fyi i everything on the frame is used or parts i had around or traded friends/brothers/dad for, so i havn't spent that much money polishing said turd. the wheelset though was the priciest at 160ish shipping included, but having dura ace hubs and ultegra cassete and mavic open pro front and cxp30 back, i thought it was a great deal especially since the cheapest new wheelset i found was weinmann dp18s and i think formula or origin8 hubs for not much less. its not like i cant swap out the frame down the line if i find something nicer.

and yes adriano i am 6'3 with extremely long wingspan, so the easier to find 120mm alter stem works out for me.

ok thats all
