Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Ah yes, the touring bike...

Well known for their lack of fender/rack mounts, limited hand positions, and difficult-to-service disc brakes.

Looks like a badass commuter though.

actually has mounts for fenders f&r and pannier racks both front and rear and able to tow a trailer

i chose a flat-bar because i don't want to be crowded over drops with 50kg of crap on the bike

meh, every bike shop has the ability to service disc brakes, if one fails in between towns, you just ride more carefully til you get to the next town

You're doing it wrong, IMO at least.

Even in the US I wouldn't be so sure about that, and you are in Australia where there are even more wide open spaces. I'd hate to end up on a 3000-ft descent with only one brake, even if it is a disk. Let's also hope that the one you have left is the front.

Though there has been a time or two where I wish I had disks on a tour.
Case in point:

Any chance you can post a picture of your bike? It's pretty hard to find any information on that bike online, and the picture you posted sure doesn't look like it has rack/fender mounts.

I found an old Clubman in the trash that I want to restore but it's a slow start.

Campy dérailleur and shifters, Suntour dropouts, SR cranks, seatpost and cockpit. Weird mix of stuff.

The post and stem are seized and the headset if of a funny size.

shifting to a fixed gear track bike i suppose (leader 721tr), all depends on how much i end up liking the new bike build. lol i wasnt having time for serious trail rides and ending up riding it more on the road instead, switched tyres to slicks later on but not as fun.. just needed a change i guess, have another merida tfs500d trail frame coming in from hong kong, if i end up having some $$$ free then i might build it up as a second bike. right now though can only afford one build haha cant wait to get the leader finished

CC's cannondale is TAF. Frame is hot. Not a fan of the stem and the rim decals though.

Also, I shall be posting pics here in a few days.

My geared bike. A Tunturi (originally a Finnish brand, now basically destroed by Accell group) from 1967, with Sachs Duomatic hub. With 46/22 gearing, it's quite fast when going downhill.

Another geared bike from our household. Early 90's Bianchi Pholcus (rebranded Puch Scout) which was originally a dumpster find and now serves as my GF:s summer commuter:
