Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Rode to work today. Since I carry a bunch of crap with me, the FG was not a choice; rode the hybrid:

I will say this about FG riding: Once you get used to back pressure on the pedals (the trailing crank pushing up toward you), going back to a freewheel is very unnerving.

+1. Going back to SS after riding fixed for a while feels really weird.

Nashbar special it looks like? It's really not a bad frame at all. Rides and handles quite well, plenty stiff, I think you will like it.

I have the same frame in size 58, the bike weighs a hair less than 20lbs with pedals.
