Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

1963 Columbia 5 speed.

1972 Columbia 3 speed. My commuter bike. Just threw out the stupid dumb steel rims and laced up some alloy Ukais. 27" wheels.

Not really mine, but while we're on a theme, a friend's Columbia 3 speed that I took these photos of.

Corima Puma from about 2000ish. Carbon over structural foam. Real stiff in the BB area, but comfy as heck (can you say laterally stiff but vertically compliant?)

Unfortunately I don't have a good shot of the seatpost. It's all of about 1/4" thick.
