Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Dialled in the Pug a little more... dropped the stem (cut down the bars today) and now it sounds like I am being chased by angry bees when I ride as I threw in a WI freewheel. Thinking I need a few spokey dokes... er... stall indicators on those wheels.

New bars, tape, headset, and comp. Compacts are a dream come true for long legs/short torso

Suggestions for a front hub/rim/spokes? Want to build my first wheel. Something light and reliable but not over the top in price. The back is ultegra to open pro...go for the same?
Also, suggestions for pedals? These things are from the mid 90's and still work great but i swear they weigh 5 lbs.

That bike is not even remotely safe to ride and it will be entirely too expensive to make it so. Please send it to me and I will dispose of it properly.

Seriously though. Looks good, I'm jelly. If you like that style pedal, you could grab some Look Keo's, but I don't know how weight compares between them. I don't think the Keo are heavy though.

any new pedal will be lighter than those. That bike could use some dark grey anodized rims

Ultegra 6600 or 6700 with silver Open Pro rim would be a very good choice . I prefer DT Revolution 2.0/1.5/2.0 spokes for front wheels, but depends on your weight and local riding surface.

Got my 520 together enough to test ride today

Still need to sort out the rear rack and front bag. I had trouble shifting at first, but by the end of my ~30 mile test ride I had a good feel for how far to move the levers.

So I bought another Troll frameset in the next larger size and it came with a paint job and some Surly racks to match the green panels. Color is what I'd call a metallic root beer with green panels that's really nice looking in the sun, but can also look like a deep purple or black depending on the lighting. I'd say it fits much better now

Added one more cog and expanded the range on both ends so it can climb mountains (it's new purpose in life) and also give roadies heart palpitations... not because it is super fast but because is still shocking when those little wheels blow by you at 40 kmh plus.

21 speeds...

Are you rocking the new 29r hub and cassette on that bad boy ?

Looks like you have a 38 tooth bailout gear on this.

No it's a Sram S9 hub with a 34t, but I do have a 29r wheelset waiting to be stuffed into it...

Picked this up Diamondback Master TG up yesterday and this is how i got it....
https://sarasota.craigslist.org/bik/3016687777.html

The guy had electrical tape over the original bar wrap,so i pulled it off and the wrap was in surprisingly good condition. The saddle sucken balls,so I went straight to my LBS after picking it up and bought a Bontrager RL for 15 bucks. Also picked up some Lizard Skins DPS in white, but I have to get new cables before I wrap.Luckily I had a seatpost to fit it because the stock post was steel.

This is the current set up

I am probably going swap out all the vintage 105 with a Sram Apex group and some neuvation wheels.
