Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Stolen Bike: Purdue University

Hey guys,

Any of you in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area, a friend of mine's brother had his Bianchi Fremont stolen outside his Dorm. Any assistance recovering this bike will be greatly appreciated. I'll hopefully get some pics of the bike soon. I'll also be X-Postng this to SS/FG. Contact me via PM with any info.

Does he live at earhart hall? Cause i'm 90% sure i've seen a Fremont locked outside of it. It had a one color (I think green) helmet locked with it. Actually I'll go outside now and see if i can get a pic

edit: so it's not there, I think that was his. But yeah I'll keep a lookout Tom!

Yeah that's actually my bike. I live in Meredith but I parked it there often. It got stolen off the rack near the road block..

Updated pic. I hope you guys see it.. I'm going to check out some pawn shops when I come down in a week.

I can now be seen with a custom bianchi steel road bike.. I am now using some Pitlock skewers and a NYC Forgeddaboudit mini kyrptonite d lock in case I leave it out a night.

just so you can make some associations:

Ah, I see you found the thread! Excellent!

Hey, I'm glad to help you out as best I can. I also have this thread up in Great lakes Subforum, by the way.

Y'all can either contact me or the owner via PM. I also have identifying details on the bike. If you contact me, I'll be sure to get his bike back to him.

I'll unstick it in a few days. I'd stick a thread for a stolen bike at request, though, for a week or so for anyone. Cyclists gotta watch out for each other, after all.

I agree. My son's bike got stolen from his college lockup over Christmas. He certainly didn't have the means to replace it, and got no special treatment on the forums. But a big thumbs up to Yan at Downtube for hooking him up with a great deal on a folder that he can keep in his dorm.

See my post above you, Brian. It wasn't special treatment. I'd do it for anyone that asked me to. I'm just trying to provide a free service to members of our community.

I think it's great y'all are looking out for each other. If I see other folks posting missing bikes I'll point them in your direction Tom. Nice work

If and when Tom gets out of the hospital after his heart attack I'll make sure he knows that this is your priority.

I had an episode of Atrial Fibrillation (Heart issue) and spent from Friday last week until yesterday in the hospital in the CCU. I got the joys of being shocked by 200 volts to restore my heart rhythm after a few days on anticoagulants to make sure I didn't have any clots, etc. Now I get to spend the rest of my life on coumadin and other heart drugs and have damage to my heart muscles in 3/4 of my heart. (L Atrium, Left Ventricle, R Ventricle). Right now, I'm at home on bedrest. It sucks!

By the way, unstuck, now that I've had a chance.

i really dont mean to derail this thread....
but i always wonder when i hear about people's bikes getting stolen:

did they lock their bike up?
if they did, HOW did they lock their bike up? just a cable?

i dont mean to be a jerk, im just actually interested in what circumstances are most bikes stolen.
