Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Macon, GA Fixed Community

So, a guy I met hanging out at the Tour De Georgia 1st Stage Finish called me up yesterday. He was wondering if I wanted to head out for a ride. So I met up with him and a buddy of his. They both were riding fixies. I can't believe it. Macon, ghetta @$$, Georgia has a fixed community. Yeah, yeah, its only several guys but finally something cool in this hell hole. So we decided to head out for a ride. We ended up riding 22 miles to Juliette, GA to where the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" was filmed. Our trip was 44 miles round trip on fixies. It was tough but we did it. Anyone on this forum live near Macon? So whats next, a Macon Alleycat? Anyone up for it?

Dude...
Macon?
I'm sorry.
Although I have to say that Atlanta has a thriving scene with almost no representation on bikeforums.
Get all three of your asses up to the big city for races on 07/07/07 and 07/28/07.
-The first is the Lucky 7's alleycat.
-The second is The Rock, a single checkpoint out and back. The checkpoint just happens to be at the top of Stone Mountain.

I go up to Macon each year for the annual Widespread Panic concert each October, always a good time. Maybe I'll bring my ride this year.

I don't know ***** about macon except for the one time i was there and it was like a scene from 28 days later and that the hills there look like a lot of fun to ride.

That race in atlanta sounds intriguing and i might have to make the trip.

Macon is a hell hole. Not much going on here. But I am happy to say that there is at least another fixed rider here (2 actually). Downtown is fun to ride. Anywhere else around the town sux. Actually, if you have ever seen the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes", thats where we rode to. When we went to eat at the restaurant, they pretty much denied us service without acknowledging us. My two buddies are covered in tattoos and piercings and we all looked weird. So we had to ride 45 miles with no energy for the return. Oh well, screw those rednecks. What do you expect in rural Georgia.
