New frameset vs. vintage frameset rebuild vs newish pre converted vintage
Hey everyone. New here and am on the quest to get my second SS bike. My first was an old cannondale m700 I made into SS, but i want to build or purchase a road bike (I want to go fixie)
I have been going back and forth over finding an old vintage road bike of the right size, or buying a new bike. I will be limited on cash so I was thinking something like a basic IRO Mark V
or just look around on craigslist and find a vintage that has been converted. It may be a few weeks till I can purchase ( I have to sell one of my camera lenses to fund the bike) so I have a bit to decide and would like to know what you all had in mind for a good option.
thanks

Buying new is easy. Once you find the sweet spot between what you want and what you think you can afford to spend, pull the trigger and you're done. You can fuss with the dealer to find the color that you want and the size that you need.
Vintage is targets of opportunity. They usually only come up one at a time so you have to find the size that you need in a bike that you like and at a price that you can afford.

Thanks Retro. If I end up going with vintage frameset and newer parts, I am kinda lucky in a way. I have a friend who is a powder coater and has zillions of color options and finishes. It'd be cool to have some nice color on an older vintage frame, running with some 700's. you make a good point though...finding one my size.
