Wabi Cycles - who else has one?
I know it's never going to be as popular as The Hour, (I have one of those too) but it seems like there's a handful of Wabi owners on other sites, so who else has one?

I can't say I have one, but I can say that the Classic is gorgeous (although I don't love either color), and if the Lightning is anywhere near its claimed weight it is one impressive rocket ship (despite the style penalty for the chubby scandium tubes).
While we're at it, how about those of you with Wabis show them off for the rest of us?

They all look really nice, and the company seems awesome. Definitely will be considering the classic when I eventually upgrade.

I kind of like the Lightning's chubby scandium tubes. That seems like a fun bike. I don't have a Wabi, but I would definitely consider one.

Well, I rode my motorcycle to work, so I'll be taking the long way home. And then I have to take my fiance' to her eye doctor appointment. But keep holding.

I was gonna get a Classic until I read something about integrated headsets being bad. Haha. It's the only think I don't like except the headtube decal, blegh.

Because Chris King doesn't like integrated headsets? It's a steel frame - I don't worry that my headset will somehow wear out the head tube.

Picture time! We actually had snow on Thursday. To go from 72 back to snow just sucks. Anyway, I took a break from cleaning up the yard to get a few photos. With any luck, it won't rain tomorrow, and I'll be able to get out for a ride.

i think the best thing about that bike is the complete lack of "look at me graphics." other than that, meh.

Thank you. It's my first road bike in several years, and it's much nicer than the one it replaced.
I still haven't decided if I'm going with SPD compatible or not, but these work in the meantime.
That's very constructive. Not that I'm looking for peer approval, but what don't you like, or what would you change?

I have a Lightning. It rules. I have it set up as a weight weenie project. Currently at 6.5 kilogrammes. After I'm done, it will be 5.9 K. With a front brake, bell and bottle cage.

I'm interested in the same thing. The black lightning looks pretty slick. Definitely interested in pics and build specifics!

I just visited the Wabi site.
Very impressive.
I like that I can order a lugged steel frame bike configured the way I would like it for the same price as their standard offering.
A good deal.

My only mistake was ordering bars a week bit too narrow. Resolving that with a Thomson stem and Ritchey bars was an unnecessary expense.

Here it is. Sorry for crappy pics
Right now I am running a good old Shimano 600 crankset and UN54 BB. Ratio 45-17. No complaints there, but I plan to run an ancient Stronglight 49d crankset on a Phil Ti BB and custom made chainring. That combo should end up weighing about 625-650 g.
The rest is a homebrew wheelset consisting of Kinlin XR-200 rims, a novatech flyweight front hub and a custom Mack single sided rear on Sapim Laser spokes 32/28 Total of 1322 g.
The Selle Italia SLR torture device (148 g.) sits on a custom titanium seatpost (215 g.)
Other parts of note: Syntace Stratos bullhorns (not heavy, not light) on a Syntace F99 stem with Ti bolts (99 g at 105 mm)
Oh and the Schwalbe Ultremos are pretty lightweight ( 175-185 g) and durable at the same time. Inner tubes are Conti Supersonics at 51 g's a piece
I could still save weight on the Miche Primato brake caliper and chain, but those are two area's I didn't feel like trading weight for durability.
The ride is demanding but comfortable to a degree. The road geo helps to compensate for the lack of weight and inherent skittishness. It accelerates like crazy and is easier to maintain a pace on and climb. Maybe because I do not baby my wheels, they are a bit of a pain to maintain, frequently going out of true ( but only a little).
