need bar help

can a 25.4 bar work reasonably well with a 26 stem?

I'm looking for some riser bars and I have come to a dead end. I like the width at around 470mm, but my only problem is I can't tell from pictures online if oury grips and a lever will be sloping on the inside of the bars when cut to that width. Neither of the LBS's have anything I can really compare either.

I'm deciding on either a pair of cheap eastons I found or just some generic alloy bars on e-bay.

They make shims, or you can use some old bike tube.

you can also use a metal strip from a soda/beer can

Or you can buy a proper shim made of a less-malleable material less for $15 or less.

Hahha seriously. If you make a beer can shim, just remember to cut it out so that the PBR logo is fully intact. Under the stem clamp.

alright perfect, I'll either order those shims or locate the nearest can.

But I'm still not sure which bars, I want the grips and lever to be straight with a width of about 470

edit:

any input on the easton bars? or a suggestion for some chrome ones?

get something with more rise and make sure it has a good few degrees of sweep.

I like the B-Witch (Japanese) branded bars, they are 25.4mm and come in many colours and are cheap!!

+1 on sweep. I used to run straight bars with 0 deg of sweep and my wrists were killing me. Now I run Velo-Orange Milan bars.

Also, look in universal cycles. They have a lot of steel/aluminum silver ones. Not chrome, but they look nice enough.

Get one of these stems so you can appreciate it:
