Didn't the thread get closed down when someone accused the other of not having street cred because he didn't live in a big city and then the guy without street crd, or sans street-cred if you will, responded by saying he did in fact have street cred because he goes to a reasonably large city sometimes where he rides with friends. THEN the other guy again told sans street-cred that he didn't have enough street cred and to avoid being repetitive he added that sans street-cred would not know what to do if someone pulled a gun on him.

How about mods stop making elitist threads and complaining about what the people posting here want to discuss.
They killed the most popular thread here! over 1 million hits! Just because 2 12 year old kids were having an argument over who was cooler!

Your cog is slipping.
The saddest/dumbest thing about it is that the two kids "arguing" about who was "cooler" most likely won't even be around in a month and those of us who have been around a while, enjoyed the thread and are accustomed to know how to deal with one another have to now go without.
Ah whatever. I'm going outside to ride my bike.

The Don brings up a very pertinent point: That thread had over 1,000,000 views. That's a lot of advertising dollars. Maybe the forum owners/mods should rethink closing that thread.

And in parts of Africa female circumcision has been practiced for even longer than cycling in Europe. Certainly a practice with such a long tradition should be continued, no matter how morally repugnant, no?
After all, it's so much better to spend considerable chunks of your life concerned about other people's possessions, than to enjoy it. Living your own life would be such a bad thing, because it would be awesome.

No, of course it's not on the same level. It helped to illustrate the point that bad things don't have to be perpetrated just because they have been done for a long time.
