You did that yourself? Looks pretty great!
You should updated your PedalRoom profile. I'm having a hard time keeping track of which bikes you ride.

Yeah I should update pedalroom. The paint was a PITA. The clear coat I put over the raw didn't want to come off so it took me about two hours to strip. Then it was ALOT of polishing. It's not perfect but if you aren't looking for stuff it looks great.

Besides, threadless stems look patently absurd on steel bikes with non-OS tubing.

i used duplicolor color match paint. the color is champagne pearl or something like that. i stripped it down to bare metal then used self etching primer. then i shot the champagne, and then shot a clear coat made by duplicolor called glitter effex or something like that. after all this i polished it to a shine. im actually still not done polishing the frame...

Polishing? after painting? What gives? It looks good.
I'm thinking of painting mine black with an automotive paint and then a glitter clear coat what what!

Thanks! Did you have to sand the primer? Or put multiple coats or anything like that? I painted a frame before but the paint scratched off pretty easily. Like if I leaned it against a desk and it wasn't carefully it would chip...

Yeah I sanded with fine grit between coats. About 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of champagne, and 2 coats of clear. When applying the coats try to get every part wet so it is even. Any minor imperfections can be polished out.

I just ordered some automotive single stage urethane in black, since powdercoating was going to be $150-$200... I have a paint gun, so I figured why the hell not.
I'm thinking I'll sand away the original clear coat with a medium steel wool/sand paper, leaving a good surface for the black to adhere to. Then tape off the chrome and give it a couple coats in the early spring when it's hot but not humid so it can actually cure.
and voila.
