Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bike size

So I'm in the market for my first fixed gear bicycle. I need help in choosing the size. I'm 5'7 and I'm thinking about getting a 49cm or 54cm Windsor "The Hour", I have tested and 52cm and that feels alright.

My post count isn't much higher than yours, so I'm hardly an expert on this forum... but I'd be willing to wager that nobody here has any idea what the right size for you is. If the one that "feels alright" is right in the middle of the two sizes you're looking at, it's anybody's guess. Are you still growing? Are you shrinking?

I'd suggest going to your bike shop and getting fitted.
