Building a new fixed gear. Need help on choosing the right frame.

Building a new fixed gear. Need help on choosing the right frame.
I am building a new bike as kind of a weekend bike. The only thing I care about is the bike being light. Can you guys recommend some frames (probably steel) that are lightweight. Not gonna tarck on it so I am pretty much just gonna ride with it. Maybe $300 at most for the frame.

What do you have to compare against? Weight is a relative concept. What have you ridden before?
If you're looking for a steel frame under $300, just get a Kilo TT/Stripper frameset and be happy. Most people will point you in that direction. There aren't too many other options if you're looking for just a frameset. If you want to truly go light, you can try to find a used aluminum frameset off of CL. Expect to pay at LEAST $300 for a decent-condition reputable aluminum track frame.

I wonder if the posters above really think they're funny. They act like kids but I have a feeling they're around the 30+ year age range.
Anyway, I would check Craigslist. Also, if you ever make a trip down to So Cal, you can check the Los Angeles/Orange County/San Diego listings as well. That's what I did and picked up a really sweet frame/fork. Good luck!

What are the other components being used? That might help other see what path you're taking. I mean, if you have $1000 in wheels and cranks that's one thing, but if you have $10 in wheels and cranks that another story.
Just sayin.

The OP asked an extremely vague question about buying a light frame for a certain amount of money...of course we are going to bombard him with stupid pictures and remarks. Weight should not be a great concern, probably should be looking into what kind of geometry the frame has, what kind of tubing the frame use..etc etc.
