Lino Uno?
Hey i am new to this forum but i love it so far! i do have a question though i am new to the world of fixed gear and i found this really nice bike on craigslist that i may pick up but the guy says that it is a "Lino Uno". The problem is i have been doing a lot of research and cant seem to find anything about this bike. Any opinions?

how much $ is he asking for?
|
300. Have you heard of this bike before? he said its only 8 months old but its a 90 min drive from here so im wondering if its worth it
|
Does he have pictures (and can you post them)? I wouldn't ever buy a bike if I couldn't see pictures first.

He is still supposed to send me more pictures but the guy doesnt seem to know too much about what hes talking about. He said hes 5'9 and this bike fits him and im 5'8 so its should be ok. but as you can see in the pictures the seat is bottomed out on the frame so it may even be too big for me. |
Yea, I'm kind of suspicious about the lack of information. I probably wouldn't buy it that for more than $150 (assuming it even fits). You would need the standover height in order to know if the bike actually fits you.
Also, the reason I wouldn't pay $300 for it is because you can get a brand new bike from Bikes Direct for $300 or $350 if you go with the Kilo TT, which lots of people on the forum seem to like. That's not including the cost of you having to drive three hours round trip to a bike of questionable quality, so yea. |
yeahhh well i was hoping i could talk him down some. I emailed him seeing if i could get the names of the components but no response yet. ill post it if i get them. i would just rather have a used bike with better quality components then a new one that isnt so great.

I agree that used bike of higher quality is better than a cheap new one, but I've never heard of Lino bikes. Googling it reveals that it's some sort of Swiss mountain bike tour company, which makes it seem like a huge coincidence that I got any sort of results at all... But yea, go for it, and see what you can find out. I'm inherently suspicious of ambiguous CL ads, but hey, I'm not the one buying the bike. :D |
yeah dude i really appreciate the help. He said that the rims were "alex"? tektro brakes and cold forged technology cog. i think im gonna leave this one alone

It's actually an older model of the uno. I'm pretty sure it is. I've looked around and there are similar pictures. |
