to upgrade my old Dawes SST and i cant find the exact frame online of the one the bike shop said,its a frame set for 195.95 incl. fork and what not,Are these frames lighter than the dawes? and if its the one i found,it says it has a back brake thing drilled in,is there anyway i can just saw this off the bike or will it compromise the intregrity of the frame? any info on these will be appreciated.

I don't think a Pake qualifies as an upgrade. Tell us what you don't like about the SST and maybe we can be a little more helpful.

Just the color and the decals,i got it for super cheap and dont like blue or the decals that i cannot remove.

The bridge is there for a reason, regardless of brake drilling or not, as ichitz said. And besides, you won't be looking at the bridge while riding, right? So don't let it bother you.

I can't make weight comparisons, because I've never ridden or held an SST in my hand. But, the pake is indeed heavy. Definitely heavier than my old Scrambler.

Well, for less than the price of the Pake, I'd just have the Dawes stripped and powdercoated. If you're hell-bent on replacing the frame, I'd forget the Pake and consider better frames that would cost the same or little more.

I have one last question,lets say i just do get the pake would i be able to switch all the parts from the dawes over I.E. Bottom bracket,crank,headset etc

the only reason i want it is i dont wanna wait,they have one at bells bikes for 190 with fork i can get today,i hate having to wait from the internet.

Parts should be compatible. Both appear to use 1 1/8" threadless headsets, assuming you're getting the matched fork.

The Pake frame actually looks like a substantial downgrade at the end of the day. It's straight-gauge CrMo vs tripple-butted on the Dawes. The Pake is almost certainly a good bit heavier.

and what about the mark v vs the pake? like i said,180 is not terrible for a frame/fork,im gonna end up spending 120 to powdercoat,30 on philly carshare to get there and back and i still dont have a BRAND new frame ha,i just wanna know how much heaver the damn PAKE is

Just paint your frame with industrial grade rattle can paint. If you prep it properly you will have a finish as durable or more than the stock finish. And it will only cost you like $20. I mean, you want black....you have like 34,903 options for black paint.

See i heard that thats the WORST possible thing to do and plus i would have no idea how to strip,prime,how many coats of paint PLUS i live in a small inner city apartment.

Why does it "blow"? It doesn't feel flimsy, and the geometry is fine, and it's cheap.

Am I missing something, besides the fact that it's heavy?

Maybe I'm biased because my frame is a Pake but it feels perfectly fine to me.

I don't mind the weight thing so much. Moar exercise.

It most certainly will not be anywhere near as durable as the stock finish.
