S3X Wheelset from Bikeisland

It just arrived today.

No visible damage to the packing box, thanks UPS!

Initial checks show some minor paint scrapes on the black spokes. IMO packing could be better for added protection. One piece of cardboard was used between the wheels with their hubs stuck through the spokes of the other wheel and protective plastic discs installed on the axles. The front wheel is dished correctly per my dishing gauge while the rear is about 2mm out of correct dish. I am awaiting a Park spoke tension gauge so I can check that prior to installation. Both wheels show reasonably good runout side to side, the front better than the rear. They appear to be properly destressed as no popping sounds when I put them under side and radial pressure.

The bar end shifter uses a standard derailleur shift cable rather than a SA proprietary cable which was required for many older SA shifters. Per measurement the shifter will require a minimum bar I.D. of 19mm.

No visible name on the high flange front hub. It does use sealed cartridge bearings so should be rebuildable if necessary.

Heh the last time I ordered from bikeisland they overdid the backing for me.... my 2nd road morph G mini pump came in this huge box (approx the size of 4 nike shoe boxes) all filled with packing cardstock.

happypills;

Looking at the shipping box I doubt if it was ever even opened by Bikeisland. Sealed up in Taiwan and opened when I received it. It is marked "Made in Taiwan"

I just received my cheapie first wheelset from them yesterday...same shipping method. I have NO idea about the quality of the wheels though...it seems like you have a much better concept of correct attributes of wheels.
