Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? motobecane track team paint/final considerations

backstory: i've had a motobecane messenger for about 3 years now, and it's been great to me. but, as it once was great to me, over the years as my daily ride, it has also fallen into the role of beater-bike as well. in addition, the paint is chipping something fierce, the seatpost is unfortunately siezed for now. anyway...

so, i've been looking into getting a nicer bike: something that i'll want to care about, ride on the road occasionally, and maybe take up to the track from time to time. I dig the feel/look of the aero-downtube frames, and for the price, the motobecane track team looks pretty hot, comes decently nice out of the box, and for a decent price. I've got two specific/nit-picky questions though:

1) the paint on my messenger is notoriously weak. i can look at it funny, and it will chip. does anyone have the track team, and can anyone attest to the quality of the paint/clearcoat/etc?

2) anyone want to make an argument for why I'd want to pony up and/or go for something different/nicer? I've wanted a nicer whip for a while now, and I finally have the cash to make it happen... i've looked around at other frames/bikes (as well as the leader vs moto track team threads), common sense tells me that there's nothing wrong with the track team. however, I'm looking for someone with maybe a little more common sense to point me towards something I may have missed...
