HELP Bottom Bracket Threading Problem
Hey guys
I tried to install the nondrive bottom bracket today and it was hard to screw in. I did a dumb move by using my wrench to screw it in and about half way in I realized the bottom bracket was going in crooked. I quickly removed it and now I think I kind of messed up the first third of the threads.
I am very new with bikes. So any advice and help would be appreciated.

Video tutorials on installing internal and external bearing BB's:
https://www.spadout.com/iv/how-to-ins...ottom-bracket/
http://www.spadout.com/iv/how-to-install-an-external-bearing-bottom-bracket/
Not sure what the procedure would be to fix the threading on a ruined BB. I'm sure a decent LBS could do it, but I don't now if it'll be very cheap.

I'm going to assume that you have a traditional bottom bracket and that you're talking about the left hand (not fixed) fitting (cup or whatever). This side of the bottom bracket is threaded normally -- right hand thread. You may be ok and you might not be ok. It would be tough to thread it in many threads incorrectly unless you were going at it with a pretty big wrench. Then, if you screwed up the threads, it might be the threads on the cup or it might be the threads in the BB. Carefully inspect the threads on the cup and see if they are perfect all the way to the end. If they are not, the best thing to do would be to get a new bottom bracket rather than try to use a bottom bracket with boogered threads. You could run the risk of messing up the threads in the shell, if you haven't already. If you can't easily thread a good bottom bracket into your BB shell, the thing to do is take your bike to the best equipped old school bicycle shop in your area and have them chase the threads in the BB shell with the appropriate tap and then sell you a new bottom bracket, if you need one. If your BB is not damaged, then all they will have to do is chase the threads with the proper tap.
