White Industries Urban Platform Pedal for fixie?
Hi guys.
Does anyone have any experiences with the White Industries Urban Platform Pedal https://www.whiteind.com/pedal.html? Do you think they are good ones to use with a fixed gear bike in the city or do you recommend better ones?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Very nice $219.00??? I doubt that there are better pedals. WI stuff is excellent. But at that price, I'll keep my MKS campy knock-off pedals!

Like I mentioned in the other White Industries Urban Platform Pedal thread, $200.00 + pesos? **** that. I mean if you have that kind of cash to throw at 'em more power to you, but I really can't see a pedal being that much better. This is the best they can come up with when trying to sell this pedal for $200.00 + beans:
"Step right up, White Industries new Urban Pedal has a classically inspired profile combined with modern materials and design and is ideally suited for the urban cyclist. Whether you're a cyclo-tourist, avid commuter, fixed gear maven or all the above, these pedals provide the perfect platform for whatever shoes you decide to ride in. The large kick plate makes getting your shoes onto the pedals and into the toe clips effortless. The Urban Pedal is designed to accept standard toe clips and either single or double straps. The tapered 17-4 stainless steel spindle and sealed cartridge bearings complete this quality pedal, and the bronze acorn nuts add a touch of class. The pedal is made in the USA."

I guess no one else has the stainless steel spindle and sealed cartridge bearings? or maybe its the bronze acorn nut that "adds a touch of class" that merits the $200.00 + price tag? (I think they're just selling their name, but don't tell anyone.)

Fresh Garbage
I'd expect it to weight less than 300 grams for $200. My comfy GR9s are 300 grams at $30, but the bearings needed adjustment.

honestly, I think they're hideous. Obviously WI is known for making great products but I think they're fugly and honestly probably not much better than some vintage campys you could find online for the same price. I picked up a pair of GR9s and wasn't happy with the weight and look. I didn't feel like I had enough grip for my shoes so I replaced them with some more tradition track pedals (Soma Hellyer track pedals.) I'm happy with the change... in the end man, do what makes you happy, its your bike.
