Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? redline chain tensioner

I installed a RedLine chain tensioner on my stock-wheeled Soho S yesterday and I noticed that when I tighten down the nuts to sufficient torque (aka mondo-tight), the axle ends DO NOT thread past the top of the nuts (like they do when the additional thickness of the tensioner is not there)....they're about a thread and half short of being flush....I'm going to guess that I should have at least three threads past the top of the nut?

I haven't ridden it in this configuration yet. Should I be concerned? Is this safe to ride?

I wouldn't be concerned if its just a thread and a half, worst comes to worst nothing catastrophic would happen if it failed

Seriously? I guess the worst that could happen is if the nuts somehow work themselves loose and the chain slacks and jumps off the chainring when my 255lbs mashes the 540s while speeding along at 20mph riding fixed, I could end up with this look on my face when the chain bunches up between the back wheel and chainstay at said 20mph and locks the rear wheel in front of the hot babes...and I face plant...I guess? But since the nuts are mongo-mondo-tight, it shouldn't really happen...right?

Or am I being too paranoid? Seriously.

You're fine.
If it was threaded on less than half way you'd have a greater chance of stripping the threads when tightening it (same force on less surface area), but one and a half threads is like 1/16th of an inch, right? Don't worry about it.
