Are spoke cards passé
1 Attachment(s)
It seems like spoke cards are passé. All the pics I'm seeing posted now feature wheels sans spoke cards, and I'm wondering if there has been a paradigm shift in hipsterdom, or maybe the real hard core hipsters have left this scene. Please help explain this to me so that I can sleep serenely at night.

I've never had them, never will.
Stopped putting cards in my spokes when I was 11. Plus I've never won an alley cat or voted for Obama (I'm Canadian) so I can't legitimately sport one. |
Yup, the sheeps are leaving scene, who knows what the are up to now.
|
all of mine got stolen. so i don't have that problem anymore.
|
I have a picture of a cat (okay well its more like 4 half cats so 2 total)
But I just love cats... I have always wanted to stick one in my wheel proclaiming "Mad Skidz" I think I gotta wait til fixed gear isn't popular anymore to do that though, soon enough... soon enough |

it might be cool to put one of those red led setups you spin to make them say the time or whatever phrase you want.

You know I kind of like the idea of the spoke cards, It lets you know a little bit more about the person riding the bike. A lot like bumper stickers really, you can weed people out by what the advertise. It also lets me see people who have been to the same races/events.
Additionally, I have discovered a few previously unknown to me events through other people's spoke cards. That said, I don't have them on my bike. |
The new thing is old socks in the spokes.
|
Spoke cards can look good. But, they were cool basically the same week riding brakeless with track drops on the street was cool.
|
And here I was going to put a bunch of them into the wheels of my road bike.

Lol. Spoke cards are cool. I wouldnt hate if someone had em on their bike. I Used to have em set up this way, (pic below), but I took em out. When I was riding, my friend said it looked pretty cool while the wheels were spinning.
Spoke cards FTMFWhttp://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=159997 |
Those look more like homework assignments.
|
lol I experimented with em =p. Took em out though. I preferred the cleaner look XD
|
my spokes are too tight to be able to slide something thru it...

^A spoke card that costs 3x what the bike cost. Typical. Yuk yuk yuk.
|
I still sport the spoke card from on my favorite hustle rides
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/u...ket/Root-1.jpg spoke cards arent just an alleycat/messenger thing here |
I think once people started doing their own spokecards and just cramming random **** in their wheels, then the actual real spokecard (from races) sporting people gave theirs up to not be affiliated. That's my excuse.
|
I literally forgot about them. I don't mind them, though.
|
If you like spoke cards, then use them. If not, then don't. The only thing more stupid then doing something because everybody does it, is NOT doing something because everybody does it. Just do what you like.

Actually, I'm confused... |
