Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Low-priced Sealed Track Pedals?

"Simple but very effective track style pedal.
Aluminium Track style pedal with polished aluminium body, low profile cage and super smooth sealed bearings.

Key Features:

Barrel polished aluminium body and ED aluminium cage.
LSL and sealed ball bearings.
Weight: 225g pair (claimed).
9/16' axles."

What do you guys think about these pedals? Should I go with the traditional MKS Sylvan Track or these?

EDIT= Price : SystemEX ED189 Track Pedal - $23.60

For the price + shipping , you might as well just buy some MKS pedals>

Well they're about the same price if not cheaper. ProBikeKit has free shipping and the MKS track pedals have loose ball bearings.

i think you need more info. i would find out if they are sealed cartridge bearings or if the looseball is just sealed. also find out what kind of bearings go into them, if they are sealed, common, and easily replaceable i would say go fer it. let us know what happens.

You riding it in the mud? 10,000 kms a year? Going for the hour record?

Loose ball is fine.

For around $50, Velo Orange has some sealed track pedals. I haven't given them a try.

Those are the Wellgo rebadged pedals, same as the Soma and other rebadge ones.

I run wellgo clipless pedals. Totally hassle free. Sealed. Got them for $44.

Wellgo has some good value.

They are the same as the MEC pedals as well. I was playing with them in the store and found the spindle to be somewhat tight, If I were to buy those, do I have to adjust them?
