EF you alberto contador!!!!
**** you Alberto Contador. I hope your chain falls off and your carbon seatpost breaks off into your buttock.:mad:
-or- Flying squirrels rip your face off when you're riding the final stage on the Champs-Élysées. :notamused: Enough said. Please carry on talking about gear ratios, frames, hipsters and steel vs aluminum. Socks |
Three-peat?

Yayyy!!!
Cat pictures time!! |
What is he suppose to do let menchoz and sanchez gain time on him? While he waits for what could be a few mins. What he did is not those most ethical thing to do, but then again hes there to win. If anything this is going to make for a more interesting tour.

Nobody is saying he should have stopped, but he went on an all out sprinting attack after Schleck dropped his chain. That is straight up dirty. |
It was not the most classy thing to do , but I do not think he really cares.
|
It's not just unclassy, it is straight up breaking the one of the gentleman's rules of grand tour cycling.
If I was Alberto, I wouldn't expect any more water bottles from riders on other teams, or sympathy if he has a puncture. I think Contador was in the perfect position to wait in the wings until the TT and then make the time back for the yellow, but now he's going to be dealing with a pissed off Andy Schleck, and the rest of the Saxo team. Can't wait to watch the rest of the stages. |
In the situation i think it was a reasonable thing to do. He would have been acting on pure instinct. The guy wants to win the race, so naturally if he sees his number one opponent slow down he's gonna drop the hammer.
And besides, if Shleck was riding fixed he wouldn't have had that problem anyway. |
It was tasteless and he broke a gentleman's agreement by attacking. Wasn't reasonable at all.
|
It's not like Schleck will have a chance anyway. He will get killed at the second time trial.

Schleck was attacking . . .
His chain bounced/slipped . . . "Manana Alberto, manana!" |

Before the mechanical, he had 30 seconds. There's two more mountain stages, including the summit finish of all summit finishes. Schleck has been stronger than Contador in the mountains so far. To say he didn't have a chance to go into Bordeaux with a minute cushion is foolish. |
"Contador Apologizes on YouTube"-- it's in Spanish. So good luck?
http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/201...es-on-youtube/ Still. It's pretty messed up. See. This is one of the reasons I quit road racing. At first when you go on semi-casual rides with roadies people will stop if you get a flat. Or talk while riding... But when I got to the level where we avg crazy speeds everyone became competitive dicks. No one ever stopped, talked...other then bragging about who's ass they kicked. It must be insane at that Level during the tour. But regardless. **** CONTADOR!! Socks |
So your *****ing that some guy saw his opportunity and took it? Wow, now I remember why I dont give a **** about road racing. Everyone involved that iv ever talked to are dicks.
|
plus, this belongs in the roadie forum, unless your talking about Mash SF doing the TdF on their fixed gear bicycles. XD
|
if your in the tour de france, your in it to win it. if i was contador, i would have done the same exact thing. I WANNA WIN!
Edit: unless your lance armstrong, who is in it to prove he can ride it with out being doped up (my theory at least) |

Who cares, anyway? A bunch of doped up hamsters being told via their team communication system how to screw over other teams and keep them from doing their best. Great bunch of folks professional road cyclists. That's why the TdF is nothing more than a boring freak show. No one cares. If you want to see chemistry in action then go to a science museum. Want to see childish behavior watch Romper Room. Want to see dishonest, malicious, low brow people justifying their behavior "because they have to" then go to work.

That's cool, it's not for everyone. |
yeah i guess Phil Liggett doesn't understand grand tour racing either.
By Phil Liggett July 19, 2010 There could not have been a more emotive stage as the Tour de France celebrated 100 years since the introduction of the Pyrenees to the event in 1910. French champion Thomas Voeckler wins alone in Luchon and the race leader for the past six days, Andy Schleck, is left behind when he his chain slips just before the summit of the Port de Barles with 14 miles to go. Should Alberto Contador have desisted with his attack, leaving his other two rival Denis Menchov and Samuel Sanchez to press on? Many apparently thought he should have. Schleck, through no fault of anyone, except perhaps himself, was left standing on the mountain for 34 seconds, seeing his overnight lead of 31 seconds disappear into the setting sun. Chase as he did, he lost his lead by eight seconds and said later that there was "anger in his stomach" and that soon he will take his revenge. This is a perfect scenario for exciting moments as the race continues for two more days in the Pyrenees. He did not directly blame Contador for attacking, but added if it had been him he would not have done it. That can only remain as speculation. Contador received a mixture of cheers and boos on the podium in Luchon. Not surprisingly, the Spaniard looked somewhat taken aback. Never lose sight that the Tour de France is a professional sport and these athletes take part to win. Contador did nothing wrong. |
