Mounting brake levers on the Profile Cobra Wing handle bar

Hello guys,

does anyone know if it's possible to mount brake levers like the Cane Creek Cross Top Levers on the "normal" position on the Profile Cobra Wing handle bar and not only on the horn itself?
Do you think this handle bar is a good one for fixed gear riding in the city or do you recommend others?

Cheers.

Come on now. One very obviously can't use those levers with those bars. I'm not trying to be a dick, but you can tell by just having functional eyes that it won't work.

I'll give you an advise as well. Maybe you should take a look on picture #3 on https://www.profile-design.com/profil...rbon-base-bars
But maybe that's too complicated.... for you

i have these bars, and no, cross levers don't work. cross levers don't work on most 31.8 tt base bars because they're just meant for different things. if you don't already have a 31.8 stem, go for syntace stratos horns. they'll work with cross levers, and are all around a great handlebar. if you are set on 31.8 tt bar, i don't know what to tell you other than get some bar-end brakes (what they are designed to work with) or go brakeless. also, everyone... stop being dicks. this new generation of dicks is even worse than the last one. i'm glad the fad is dying down.

On a side note, I'd like to see what "plug-style" bar end brake levers look like that are described in this link...
https://www.competitivecyclist.com/r...7269.28.1.html

Lattanzio- what brake levers are you using (if any)?

The 31.8mm cross levers WORK if you mount it near the stem.

It seems to me like you would lose some of the highly-engineered aerodynamic benefit of those bars by wrapping them all the way to the flats.

My bike is pretty stiff, so my wrists were starting to hurt after long rides. I bought these because they were carbon, not because they were aero. They are wrapped with gel cork tape to further the vibration dampening. Thank you for your concerns.

I see no reason why a cross lever designed for 31.8 bars won't work near the stem. I bet the aero bars for these have a similar mount.

I use the same levers on my 31.8 track drops. They don't fit the clamp area (right beside the stem) perfectly but it's sturdy enough. The clamp on a brake lever is almost never the same diameter as the clamp area of a handlebar... levers aren't meant to fit right beside the stem. You'll find the same problem with "26mm" cross levers and 26 mm bars. The lever will fit a couple to a few inches away from the stem, not right beside it.

On a side note, I think this thread is a prime example of how we all need to stop being such massive dicks. Joking around is fine, but we all need to make it more tongue-in-cheek. Sarcastic comments are just hurtful. Yes, fixed gear riding has attracted a lot of people who don't necessarily know what they're doing, who will ask stupid questions, but we were all in that situation once. We need to be less bitter about people asking basic questions and more accepting. Otherwise we just give off the impression that this forum, and fixed/SS riders in general, are complete *******s. It's not exactly a great way to get more people riding bikes. Simply telling the OP "No, I don't think it will work" is immensely more helpful than a snide remark.
