The Surly Pugsley, saw one in action about a week or so ago, it's the only one I've seen in captivity. If I won it in a raffle, sure, but for now, I'll stick with the bikes I have. I figure like a mountain bike, it's slow, even going on the most ideal terrain. Which isn't the right choice for most, if not virtually all of the riding I do. I need road bike speed to cover the real estate, yet something that's comfortable enough when I get there to sight see and hop from place to place that are more than a couple/few blocks from each other. I understand fully featured that behemoth is 38 lbs, no way I'm pedaling that 30+ miles. The 26x2.10's are hard enough over that same loop. The guy that was riding the Pugsley was in South Beach. He was going pretty good, but I've never seen him ride it for more than a few blocks either on the street and who knows how far he ever rode it on the beach, but I do know he could go anywhere on that terrain. The sand is just too soft for mine to go beyond the harder sand farthest away from the surf. It would be cool to ride in the softest sand, but then there's an issue of people being in that zone laying out in the sun & sand, so you couldn't really go very far doing that.

Wouldn't it be pretty neat if there was a way to flip a lever like the old 4WD vehicles and make it a 2WD bike, as in AWD ?

Dropped in price a lot. I wonder which is the more effective setup ?
