Let's talk Track Frames!
I just had my Leader stolen and I need a replacement. I'll be getting some money from my insurance company (get renters insurance if you don't have it), and I wanted to see some thoughts on an upgrade. Other thoughts have been a Felt TK3 or a vigorelli. I'll probably build it cause it's fun to build. Let's hear some ideas if you've done something similar or if you want to weigh in. Pics would be fun. Thanks

i just finished a vigorelli build. it's actually a lot of fun piecing the bike together part by part. taking your time, finding good deals etc. i had all the tools to put it together myself, which makes it more special i think.
it's a great bike so far. the bike handles great, very nimble. i have to get it on a scale as well, seems very light compared to my first bike.

Mostly long-ish street rides, aluminum, and they're giving me enough to replace my bike.

I would definitely suggest investing time and money in a safe locking habit, renter's insurance or not.
Otherwise, If you want an aluminum track frame there is Felt TK2/3, Fuji Track Pro, Vigorelli, Leader, Bianchi Super Pista/Concept, Cannondale Capo, Trek T1, Moto Team Track...
Personally I think I'll be pulling the trigger on a Moto Team Track frameset in about a month. I can't convince myself to spend much more than what the frameset is going for on BD for what will likely be an indistinguishable upgrade for me. I've been trolling ebay hard for the summer searching for a deal on a frameset on any of the above, but haven't found anything that fits me unfortunately.
Also, the Team Track complete is a pretty decent deal. Considering the dura ace crankset and BB alone could run you up to around 400 and the frame 350, the complete for 800 isn't such a bad deal for some decent components (perhaps save for the wheelset).

They did. You can find their track wheels for cheap but you cant get support for them anymore.

You want to use something like a Felt tack bike for the longish road rides? May I ask why? A track bike like that has a short wheelbase and is very darty. Great for the track, but not what I would choose for the road. The toe overlap could be a PITA too.
Are you doing this for looks? Style? Something with a longer wheelbase (more stable, less overlap) would be much nicer on the road.

Yeah, the T1 is pretty sweet, I've just not heard much about it (other than that vid w Lance crushing the SF mash crew on a T1). Problem with the Felts is finding the frame. I just saw the new fuji comp, and that thing's a beast. I'd feel bad if I didn't get that to the track often, which I won't, so that prolly won't be my choice.
