Whoops, there it is. Wacky!
Even wackier, amidst the wild time trial frames, is the odd Cinelli Vigorelli and aerospoke.
Rad. Rad. Rad. What? Rad.

Less than a quarter of those are track bikes, and in the grand scheme of bikes late 80s, early 90s isnt really that old.
Lots of really cool things go on. I will guarantee you that if the UCI didnt start banning things time trial and track racing bikes would look much more similar to those bikes than the modern ones. Ive ridden a track TT on a pretty nice fully UCI bike and then the same on a 700/600 super wide tubed bike with super low bull horns and the back rest saddle and was 5 seconds faster over 1k. Which is a huge difference.

I'd rather ride a piece of art and functionality than a UCI-spec'ed piece of machinery, even if it meant I couldn't race....

All the hyper aero stuff that was cracked down on by the UCI creates incredibly unfunctional bikes. Thats why the technology didnt ever overlap into mass start stage races. Its too limiting and uncomfortable for anything with a group or long distances. And I would be willing to bet pretty large sums that (minus some peoples bars and brakes), every single person here's track bike is uci legal.
