Cog or Crankset?
Again, forgive me if this is a stupid question.
Is it the cog or the crankset that decides if a bike is a singlespeed or fixed?
What I took from Sheldon's site is that you have either a freewheel or a lockring.
Can someone elaborate? It would be greatly appreciated.

Fixed gear bikes have a cog and lockring, a singlespeed would only have a freewheel. Crankset is irrelevant.
