Soma Urban pursuit question
I've been looking for a good set of horns for a 25.4mm clamp, and these seem to fit the ticket. However, I can't quite get a sense of their length, as the image on the Soma site makes them look fairly short (which I want), while some user's shots make them look like the insanely long type horns. Can I get a definitive idea of length?

They have long horns, I've looked at them in the store and it seems to me if you chopped an inch off they'd be perfect as the length before the up sweep of the horn seems good.
However, I have tried a few bullhorns and am now convinced that the syntace stratos are the best bars ever. I'd buy a 26mm clamp stem and the silver bars in the for trade thread above if I were you!

I have been riding syntace stratos for a while now and they are nice but the creaking from the bars gets pretty annoying over time. I prefer a steel bar as well and will eventually be buying a set of the soma el toro bars (their steel version of the RB-021s) and chopping off a few inches of the bars after they turn upward. I was just looking at the soma urban pursuits yesterday at a shop as a friend considered them for her new build. they really aren't that long of a bar and if you liked getting stretched out or sometimes, they seem great. My friend is pretty little so she wants a 36 bar and it is the only bullhorn bar that seems to come that narrow.
Frankly, the extra length on a bullhorn/TT bar is what makes them so nice. There are so many hand positions. anything with shorter horns would really just be a flop and chop.

Mine creaked really badly, I use a Dura Ace quill stem and I lightly greased the bars before re inserting them and hasn't been a problem since.

When you chopped the Somas could you still add bar end levers, i.e. does the tubing get wider after the immediate ends? I'm looking to buy a pair on my fixed gear, and want my brake lever where my hands'll be most often. On the horns.
