A23 vs Aerohead

I just won a pair of Suntour Superbe Pro Hubs on eBay that I'm very excited about but I'm in a bit of a pickle as to what I should lace them to. I currently have the Velocity Deep V's, but am unhappy with the weight and I find that the aero thing just isn't that useful for me. So I'm looking into a lower profile rim and have narrowed my choices down to the A23 or Aerohead rims. I like the idea of the A23's riding like tubulars at 23c tires; does anyone own these and have an opinion on them? Or are the aeroheads just as good? I'm also considering the Open Pro's...

Oh the choices!

I'm not sure that's a good username...

I mean, it's the same name as Scrod's company. I'm aware that it is a song by The Descendents which is why Scrod used the name in the first place, but it is in the same style as Scrod's company with the exclamation mark.

You could play with an idea of using Velo Orange's VBP rims. Would probably look cool with a hub like that. ... But depends on your frame right? I was assuming you got a CrMo frame.

aerohead rims are not very well designed, IMO.

many light clincher rims are designed FAR better than aeroheads.

Another less mentioned option that Im a big fan of is the DT Swiss RR 1.1. Great ride, beautify built light rims.

And I dont know where you heard it from but youre never going to be able to find clinchers that will ride as nice as tubies. With a narrow tire on a wider rim there will be more contact, and less tire movement during cornering, but thats not what makes a tubular ride like it does. I think its all marketing hype myself, having ridden the HED rim that Velocity ripped off for the A23.
