What parts should I pick?

Hello everyone, I'm back, genuinely down to the reason that I finally know what I'm going to do in the wonderful world of cycling.

Here are a couple of examples, it saves me explaining it and getting it wrong .

These to lovelies: http://fixedgearbikes.blogspot.com/2...ags-fixed.html
and http://fixedgearbikes.blogspot.com/2...m-man-who.html

Now my BMX is sitting in the garage so this is what I'm doing to it. Getting that seat up high (No slouching now) and getting some proper handlebars and maybe a new paintjob.
Though obviously the point of the post is what parts, I want a new sport seat and some handlebars.

I don't want to spend more than £20 on each (I'm only fifteen remember) though I can get these: Saddle: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/raleigh-...saddle-p137428 and handlebars: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/outland-...25-4mm-p136997.

Hopefully this will piece together though obviously I want your opinions. I might leave the saddle for a while as the stock BMX one is rather comfy and very broken in. Also, I'm thinking of cycling on the road (to and from places) generally using the bike as much as possible, but I have a fear of going on the road, is this normal?

I look forward to hearing from you all.
Steve

You are going to be going super slow on the road. If you are going to be going at the same speed of a pedestrian, its better to be on the sidewalk because you would become a hazard. You need new crankset, new hub(if you want to go fixed), new stem that is like 60ft tall, and a new seatpost. Goodluck.

ehhh, I wouldn't ride those things.

sheeeesh. i feel like itd be a bit awkward to ride unless you were used to it

What is your motive behind doing this? If you are just trying to go fixed on the cheap, and think this is a good alternative to a bike with 700c wheels, you will probably regret this. If you you just think it will be fun and want to do it simply so you can say you did, then go for it! If you want legitimate transportation on the road however, you will get really sick of spinning those little wheels to keep up with cars.

EDIT: Didn't answer your other question. Parts. The ones you posted should do. However, if you want to reach your handlebars you are going to need a new fork with a HUGE steerer tube or like a 400mm stem with a 89.999 degree rise. Squeegee suggested you would need a new crankset. Not sure why but maybe he/she could elaborate on that for you if you really want to do this. If I were you I would just keep it single speed so you don't need to buy anything new for the drive train except maybe a gigantic chainring.

Those bikes are cool, but not really for tooling around in traffic. If you want a cheap fixed gear cycle, look for an old roadie and convert. It'll be a lot more than 20 quid though...I'm not sure what you'd have to do for this. I guess you could rebuild the rear wheel yourself, but that sounds overly complex and I wouldn't recommend doing so unless you've trued like, a bazillion wheels.

He could just JB weld a fixed gear cog. run it suicide setup.

I really want to build one of these.

ghetto..... then again, I wonder how it would be like to ride one of these....

It was merely down to fun this little project, thanks for the responses and I wouldn't ride this on the road, but the idea does scare me slightly. I emailed the guy who made both those bikes and he used a steel bar as a seat post to get it extra hight so its like sittting up straight.

Thanks for the input ill look at what you reccomended.
