Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Anyone else have the SRAM S300?

I'm installing it right now, and I noticed the drive side just has the hollow spindle and no cap/cover or anything.. is it supposed to be like that? I'm scared of gunk and other stuff just getting in there and it'd be pretty hard to get out...
Pic of what I'm talking about:

PM naterod, he likes his and would be more than happy to answer your question. But yeah, I don't use dustcaps on my bikes and it works fine. It's not too hard to notice on black cranks when dirt gets in. I just wipe it down every month along with the rest of my bike.

No cap. You can go to a LBS and find a plug that you'd lie but I bet you find nothing you like.

Leave it as is. You won't get any gunk in there unless this is a singlespeed or fixed MTB that sees lots of mud.

Alright.. it's just for street use so I guess it'll be fine. Was just wondering if there was a cap/cover that came with it that I was missing. thanks

External BB setups are always open like that. If it works in dirt/mud, it'll work for your sissyass on pavement.

T8S has it right. [joke]don't be such a baby[/joke], it's a spindle. it's what is on the outside of it that matters.
