Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

wow, I'd love that langster, although it's way too big for me. the MD/DC/VA area always has amazing bikes but horrendous prices.
a used bike isn't worth the same as a new bike even if you've only ridden it "under 8 miles"

Haha! That's right around the block, unfortunately just way too big for a lad of my stature

So I'm posting here because I have never really dealt with French bikes before (thus I'm hesitant to purchase this bike bc of cottered bb/crank and French threading). Anyhow, I found on Craigslist and was wondering what the bike is worth? Everything seems to be in great condition minus normal wear on the paint. I am actually considering converting it to a fixed gear bike and was wondering if I would run into any trouble doing so? Thanks!

The question is: why bother buying that for $200 to convert it when you could spend marginally more money and buy a complete SS/FG and not deal with all the headaches of converting an overpriced old french bike?

+ The first thing you should do if you want to convert that bike is to spend $20-50 to get the cranks off. Then drop at least $100 for new cranks. There you hit the important Kilo price point.

A lot less likely than a 27.2, hence the price difference.
