Is Happy Valley somewhere in/near Portland? Or some other northwestern city? I ask because I live in State College, PA, which is often referred to as "Happy Valley," and this past year was our worst on record for bike thefts. Lots of vintage road frames in this town, too. It's perhaps unlikely that someone hauled a bunch of stolen bikes clear across the country, but I suppose it would be a good way to lose any heat...

EDIT: Wait, it was in Alberta. That probably makes it even less likely.

Sorry Happy Valley is an area/town? on the outskirts of Portland. Alberta is a neighborhood known for hipsters, clowns, and all kinds of street festivals.

Awesome Fixed Gear --- WITH WOOD GRAIN WHEELS!! - $550 (se pdx)

This is really sweet bike. I hate to sell it, but I really must. I had this thing put together a few years ago and it rides awesome. It has velocity wood grain wheels with the burl wood pattern on them--so freaking cool and trippy. I put some nice meaty cyclocross tires on it which make it a little more all terrain, you can let some air out of them and have a kind of cushy ride and hop curbs and cruise in gravel with ease. The bike has decent cranks with some nice pedals and nice metal toe clips. Let me know if you want to check her out... Thanks for looking!

Sorry, but Portlandia seems to always have the best deals!

Schwinn Madison Track bike circa early 1980s

- 58cm c-t
- Columbus Tenax tubing
- Wheels, Wolber 36 hole, Suntour High flange Track hubs, rear hub is flip-flop currently set up as fixed-fixed (19T-17T)
- Cranks, Sugino GLP track cranks, 165mm, 144 bcd, nice shape with new 44T 1/8 ring
- Tires, Vittoria Kevlar belted 25mm twin treads; older but less than 100 miles
- Nice leather Concor saddle
- Track pedals w/clips and straps (not shown)
- Shown with new tall Nitto stem and handlebars for a comfortable ride; also have a stem with track bars and a single reverse brake lever if you would prefer (see pics)
- NOS Shimano 105 brakes front and rear; will reduce price if you don't want the brakes and levers
- Almost new Sachs chain (less than 100 miles)
- Paint is in good shape; a few dings

Extras - a freewheel for the flip flop

Why this such a good fixie .... IMHO, Track bikes are cool, but usually, they beat you up pretty good on the road and can only fit very small tires. The Schwinn Madison is a little different. First, it will fit larger tires...I have run up to 32mm tires on this frame. Second, the dimensions and angles are a little more generous than most track bikes. Finally, the Tenax tubing is not quite as rigid (good tubing but not bone jarring).

I was just PMing back in forth with Scrod discussing the validity of this frame.

The drop out is stamped "maxway" so I started freaking out. Apparently sillgey used maxway components or possibly the whole frameset. This is strange since sillgey claims they're handmade.

Here's the bb plaque

I texted the guy I bought it from questioning the legitimacy of the frame and sent me a print screen of his order from a year and a half ago through bikebiz.

This makes me question sillgey's means of business with their "hand made frames"

It's hard to say if it is an off-the-shelf Maxway frame or if the builder just simply used Maxway droputs. The brazing on top of the dropouts look relatively smooth. I think the builder just used Maxway dropouts. I wouldn't worry about it.

Great frame!
