Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Schwinn Madison 2009 (with upgrades) for 500???

Some person is selling their Madison with upgrades for $500 or best offer.
Upgrades include:

Sun M13II Wheelset
IRO Crankset
Miche Lithion Tires
Surly Cog
Turbo Saddle
Bontrager Handlebars

Take the deal? Or no deal?

Considering the upgrades, this is a pretty good deal.

If those are the sorts of upgrades you would make yourself (i.e. you're happy with the bike the way it is), then I'd say go for it! Otherwise, you're paying for a bunch of stuff you're just going to replace.

Looks slick though.

I do believe there were a handful of black Maddys that some shops tried to pass off as 2010s. Like TJG said, it's a good deal if the upgrades suit you. As a big fan of both Madison and M13s, my opinion says go for it.

I am also a fan of M13s and the Turbo saddle is on the comfy side (for me)

Just make sure it fits

not a good deal at all. Nashbar has them on sale for 350 NEW right now, there is also a 20% off coupon as well. You are paying the for a new bike here except with all the disadvantages of a used one. If you really want it because it's a good fit and it suits your needs, buy it. If you want it because you think it's a deal, think again.

Performance is having a closeout sale on their 2010 Schwinn Sprint.

If you can spring for Reynolds 853 steel, grab one! Their inventory is running low.

In light of this, yeah $ 500 gets those other items used on a used bike frame. Are the upgrades going to make a difference in the ride ? Although it looks clean and nice.
